Ocean Wind 1

Bringing timely solutions and
opportunities
to South Jersey

About the project

Ocean Wind 1, New Jersey’s first offshore wind farm, will provide the state and our region with clean, reliable energy, while also creating new jobs and protecting our environment.
Fast facts
Ocean Wind 1 will power New Jersey with
1,100 MW of renewable energy

That’s enough power approximately
500,000 homes per day

Ocean Wind 1 will bring experience, world-class partnerships, and economic investments to New Jersey – a state that is already leading the way on clean energy initiatives.

Bringing benefits to South Jersey

Ocean Wind 1 has already created jobs throughout our region – and it will continue to do so over the coming years.

Committed to investing in South Jersey, Ocean Wind 1 will deliver a new industry and new opportunities to the region, such as building an operations and maintenance facility in Atlantic City, using local labor.

Through a partnership with monopile manufacturer EEW and the state, the Port of Paulsboro is on track to become a world-class facility – the largest industrial offshore wind manufacturing facility in the U.S. It will create hundreds of construction and permanent manufacturing jobs in South Jersey.

Our community partnerships

As a partner and member of the community, Ocean Wind 1 supports numerous non-profit, civic, and educational institutions and organizations throughout Cape May, Atlantic and Ocean counties. This is key in helping these groups extend their reach
and build strong neighborhoods.

Here are some examples of our community partnerships:

  • Ocean Wind 1 established the Pro-NJ Grantor Trust to support small, minority-owned and women-owned businesses, as well as rresiliency projects throughout Cape May, Atlantic and Ocean counties.
  • Working with the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, Ocean Wind 1 seeks to educate high school students about careers in construction and offshore wind.

  • By partnering with Stone Harbor’s Wetlands Institute, Ocean Wind 1 has supported conservation efforts for stranded Horseshoe Crabs, a critical part of the ecosystem of the Jersey Shore.

  • Ocean Wind 1 is helping to attract new visitors to the area as a lead sponsor of the country’s largest offshore conference to be held in 2022.

Investing in New Jersey

What’s more, Ocean Wind 1 will invest $695 million in New Jersey to support businesses, train and hire local employees, and advance university-level research at universities like Stockton and Rowan. It will also make necessary infrastructure improvements, such as dredging waterways, and work alongside the state in its efforts to protect our shorelines and local communities.

Together, we can create a cleaner, more resilient New Jersey – and a better tomorrow.

It’s time to take real action to reduce the consequences of climate change and its impact on our communities and beaches.
