Ørsted To Host Three Virtual Open Houses

Offer Updates on the Progress of the Ocean Wind Offshore Wind Project

Atlantic City, NJ – Representatives from offshore wind developer Ørsted will participate in three virtual open houses to update interested parties on the progress of its Ocean Wind project on Tuesday, October 20 at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 21 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, October 24 at 10 a.m. All are welcome to attend the free sessions by registering in advance at www.OceanWind.com.

Session attendees will listen to subject matter experts discuss specific aspects of the company’s plans to build a 1,100 MW offshore wind farm that will power more than half a million New Jersey homes. Ocean Wind will be located 15 miles off the coast of southern New Jersey. Construction is expected to commence in the early 2020s, with the wind farm operational by the end of 2024.

Ocean Wind will contribute significantly to the state’s ambitious renewable energy goal of supplying more than 3.2 million New Jersey homes with offshore wind power by 2035. At 1,100 MW, Ocean Wind is expected to create a considerable number of jobs annually through development and three-year construction cycle. Ocean Wind will also have 69 full-time jobs in its operations and maintenance facility in Atlantic City to service the turbines during the lifetime of the wind farm.

“While we always prefer to interact with interested members of the public face-to-face, we understand that is not practical at this time,” said Kris Ohleth, senior stakeholder relations manager for Ørsted. “New Jersey is poised to be a key player in the development of the American offshore wind industry and we hope individuals who are interested in learning more about Ocean Wind will take the time to register, listen and participate in the virtual sessions.”
